The ANC launched the Defiance Campaign in 1952. Many people of South Africa supported the Defiance campaign including blacks, indians, and a few coloreds and whites. People supported to end apartheid laws by offering themselves up for arrest. They thought if the jails were full the police department would be in chaos.
